Saturday's Question...to be or not to be a bridesmaid

OK...here's the situation. Your friend "Pam" is finally getting married. She has asked you and your other friend Mary (who lives out of town) to be her only two bridesmaids.  Mary lives far away and will not be able to see the dress until just a day or so before the wedding. These are the choices "Pam"
fell in love with.

You know Mary will not hesitate to cancel her traveling plans  (due to some mysterious phony illness) if she even had  an inkling the dress is hideous. You don't want to walk down the aisle as the lone tacky bridesmaid. Do you warn Mary of the ugly frock or keep your mouth shut and hope for misery loves company as you both walk down the aisle?

Artsy Fartsy Friday ~ Miniature Knitter and Invisible Man

I found this video of a woman who knits teeny tiny sweaters. She designed and knitted the sweaters that Coraline wore in the movie "Coraline". I love when I find videos like this because One can actually see the process of the Art; which to me is fascinating.

The next is Art is from Liu Bolin otherwise known as the Invisible Man. He is the one on the left. Look closely at the clothing....what you think is the man in black's clothes is really Liu's. The man in black is behind Liu. Amazing illusion art. If you want to see more examples of his work here is the link  http://www.moillusions.com/  I hope you have enjoyed this week's Art. Have a great weekend and smile...Spring is nearly here! Come back tomorrow for Saturday's question.

I love this picture. Around my area there is a lake and every year the cars are stopped by a family of Geese that are crossing the road headed for the lake. It's very cute...they almost look like their coming home from church or something.

Mom here is say  "Hurry kids, don't daudle!"

I would love to just sit here and listen to the water fall. A great place to dream

Grace Kelly Style and My Own Hellish Experience

source

One of my favorite movies is Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window starring James Stewart (my absolute favorite actor of all time) and the gorgeous Grace Kelly. Besides the fact that this movie is still quite a thriller The fashions that Grace Kelly wore in it are stunning! I remember my mom had a similar black and white dress that I would play dress-up in and I wished she had kept it because I swear I would have worn it to my wedding rehearsal dinner.

Gorgeous green suit. When she took off the jacket she wore a backless sort of wrap blouse that was simply beautiful. It wasn't overly sexy. It just had a smidgen of sexiness by being backless. If I could sew well I would make this blouse in a second. and look at those pearls and bracelet...simply perfect.

Another beautiful dress. It has illusion sleeves and a very cinched waist. I would probably faint from lack of oxygen, but damn I'd look good! That's only if I lost 40 pounds! This is the problem with these fashions they look great on thinner woman. This little number on me might look like a balloon tied in the middle. I guess the down side to these fashions is that one had to wear a girdle with them. I mean just look at any rerun of I love Lucy...all the women's waists seemed to be painfully cinched.

A few years ago my husband and I were invited to a fancy shmancy party. I knew that I was to see old friends there and that I had gained quite a bit of weight since I last saw them. I bought a great outfit, but it needed a good girdle to make the overall silhouette look nice. I went a few better. I wore hose with a lot of waist control, a spandex girdle ...and a waist cincher.

At first it didn't really bother me; but about two hours in (as chit chat wafted all around me) in my head I heard screaming. I was in girdle agony! My mental screams dominated my brain until a migraine started to form.  The metal stays of the waist cincher were stabbing my sides raw and the tightness of the girdle hurt my back. I was miserable!!! There was my old friend comfortable with her extra weight on display loose and fancy free while I was encased in a hellish contraption of my own making.

When we said our last goodbyes with promises of luncheons that were never to be; I waited for my husband to bring the car around (I couldn't walk because In addition to several girdles I had worn very high heels that left me semi paralyze with foot pain). I got into the car and when we were about half a mile away I started to strip myself of the contraptions. when the last of it was off and I peeled off the shoes from my swollen feet I had the nerve to look at my Husband and say...

"That was fun we should do that more often."

Too Much Homework

Greetings workshop

We went out to celebrate my daughters birthday. We went to her favorite Italian restaurant where the huge dish portions hardly fit the table for four.  Now I'm afraid I'm suffering from a pasta  induced tiredness that is creeping and making everything on the screeen bluuuuurrrrrryyyyyyy........ZzzzzzZZZZZzzzzZZZZZzzzzzZZZZZzzzzZZZZZzzzzZZZZ

Oh good you guys are still here, thought I'd lose you during my rigatoni coma break. I definitely went over my caloric intake for the day. Anyways.....On Sunday, after a week home (the kids were off for President's day and week) My Son at the hour of 7pm tells me he has to finish his Homework.

"What do you mean you have to finish Homework? I thought it was all done?"

"I forgot one." he hands me a huge packet that he was supposed to research and fill out.

"Now where was this?" I flip through the packet.

"In my folder. I guess I missed it."   I looked incredulously at my son because I just couldn't believe he could miss this huge thing.

"You must have looked through this folder a thousand times this week and you missed it?" Now I am totally taking the blame on this one, I should have looked in his folder myself.

"Well maybe I can hand it in another time."

"Oh no sir; you will do this now."

cue the stomping of the feet as he angrily goes up the stairs...

                                                STOMP!... STOMP!... STOMP!

A few minutes later he comes down with a loose leaf paper.

"Mom do you have an envelope?"

"What for?"

"For this letter."

"A letter? for who?"

"The President."

"What?"

"Its about all the homework I get. I'm writing that I don't think it's fair and I'm asking if he could do something about it."  I looked at him very interested in what he had to say. He told me since his sister had started a petition then he could start one too.

"That's fair, you can do that. You are an American and you have that right to write the President." He smiled and folded his letter neatly. "But you realize you STILL have to do that assignment." My son turns around and...

                                               STOMP!.... STOMP!.... STOMP!

I turn around and spend the next ten minutes or so laughing
