E is For... Everyday Elegance~~ Audrey

First, I'd like to thank you all for all the sweet comments yesterday after I posted about how down I felt about my returned manuscript. I had my own little pity party here and cheated a bit on my diet. I feel better and I'm rarin' to go. Welcome to all my new followers! Thank you for joining my little blog...I know we are all going to be great buds..... Now onto the letter E...

Every Wednesday  I try to post something about fashion....mostly older fashion. There are people who shine forth with everyday elegance; from within and their choice of clothes.  A combo of the two was of course Audrey Hepburn. I mean who can forget all her gorgeous outfits in Breakfast at Tiffany's or Funny girl?  When I was younger I would try to copy her simple elegant, effortless sense of style, but would inevitably fail when whatever outfit I put together seemed like it took too much effort...and that defeated the purpose of effortless style

She made a  ponytail and plain long sleeve sweater look chic.

This is one of my favorites. How sweet are the pants and blouse?

Beautiful Linen jacket. The color pops and warms her delicate features

This is a look I copied in my younger days. Cool beatnik style.

She played up her best features ( like her long graceful neck); and never wore clothes that were flashy or skimpy. To me she always seemed as if she was about to dance a ballet.

She consistently knew what accessories were right for an outfit. Love this Hat!

Even as she got older her timeless style seemed perfect for her at any age.

Now looking at all these pictures makes me want to try to capture some of that seamless style...I wonder if I went to Tiffany's in a black gown and ate my Breakfast there? ...hum a croissant and coffee I think. NAAAA...I'd probably spill coffee on my dress and leave buttery finger prints marks on the store front window. I guess I'll just have to give up trying to pay homage to my favorite style icon.  I mean it's hard to do that anyway when all you have in your closet are old jeans and stretched out sweaters...but then again I do have the cutest flats...hummmm

  1. I love this, and you chose a nice variety of her outfits!! The thing with her was that evarything was just so simple, so effortless, like she had just thrown it on on her way out. But it is much harder than it looks, I can't do it. It's like trying to put on makeup so it looks like you're not wearing makeup, very tricky!!!

  5. Great post! I agree--she was always so beautiful without being flashy or skimpy. Current generations could learn from that.

  8. Great choice for E. Really great choice. I like to have fresh flowers on my kitchen table, even if it's just a "weed" from my yard. I would never call myself elegent, but sometimes I pretend to be.

  11. Audrey is always awesome. I used to wish I could look like her -- copied her pixy haircut and all. But the bones of my face aren't the same, and I'll never be her. My hair's short again, but now I'm just happy to look like me.

  12. I think that we all idolized the grace and elegance of dear Audrey...She was so small and petite and always looked like she JUST was on a makeover, but her real beauty was what was she exuded...Thanks for the "E" posting...
