Saturday's Question~~H is for...To HAVE and To HOLD

OK I'm cheating a bit with the title....I just could not wait until "w" to talk about weddings.

A few days ago Becca over at Link here--->My Life (awesome blog!) wrote a post for letter E part of the post was "elope". She stated that she would have rathered eloped and had a Honeymoon than have a big wedding. That post was the inspiration for this one. For anyone who has had a wedding; there is always that look back and wonder or maybe regret on one aspect of the big day. "Maybe if I hadn't spent money on this" or "maybe if I hadn't hired that photographer" . There is never a perfect wedding. Now this question is for those that have had a wedding and if you have not...then you can comment in reference to a wedding you have been part of or a guest. Saturday's Question is...what would you have liked to change?

Would you have changed the location?

Since it is only fair;  I will start...I would have changed the flowers. (my bouquet fell apart!)
I would have changed one of my bridesmaids...(A and T it's not you!) she turned out to be not such a great friend.
and # 1...I would have tried on more dresses. I loved my dress but it was the first and only one I tried. I feel I missed out a bit on the experience.  OK now it's your turn.....
Have an awesome weekend! Blessings, Joanne

  1. I would have changed the day of the week. We got married on a Monday since that was the only day we both were off work...but everyone who came to the wedding had to take a day off.

    We were so stupid!:P

  2. I've married twice and never had the "big wedding." I guess I would have liked to have had that. I eloped the first time. That was exciting, and deep down inside, I'm not sorry for the elopement, just the marriage. :)

The second time, I would change the location. It is not where my husband wanted to marry, and it caused feelings and complications because of his kids. Long story...

  3. I am not married, but I really really want a forest fairytale reception, with the twinkling lights! That would be amazing!

  4. My wedding was small in a local church. The reception was held at my folk's house where punch and cake was served. It was snowing heavily so there was no honeymoon, not that we could have afforded one anyway. I think if I had it to do over again I wouldn't change a thing. I had 50 happy years with a great guy. It doesn't get much better than that.

  5. Oh, I hope you're not sorry you asked me!! I have done several posts about our wedding, with the pictures. We are Mennonites, and over 40 years ago our congregation was very conservative, rather like the Amish, who broke away from the Mennonites way back when to become Amish. I even used to wear a head covering and my husband wore a plain suit, as they called them. I was allowed no veil, we did not believe in jewelry so no rings, had to have my arms covered, and worst of all, the caterers messed up and the wedding cake was soaked with rum!!!! You could smell it all through the church!! Fortunately, none of the guests had ever had a drink before and didn't know what that smell was!! But they did keep coming back for more cake and loosened up quite a bit before the evening was over! The honeymoon is a whole other story!!

  6. I don't really think I would change anything because the only thing I would maybe change was the venue because there was one I liked more purely for atmosphere. But the food at the place we went with was so good and it was more convienant for our guests that I don't think I would change it

  7. I "eloped". I didn't tell anyone I was getting married and my mom found out several weeks after it happened. It did not end well... 5 months later we were separated and the divorce was final a long two years after that. My mom would like me to marry (who, I don't know) in Vegas. I've thought about a wedding on a schooner (spelling?) sort of like a destination wedding. Most my grandparents will probably be dead by the time I decide to get married again so I'm not worried about making too many people happy. It is your day, after all. :)

  9. My wedding was at 10AM followed by a brunch. I wouldn't have changed much - it was very nice. But, I was married in Calfornia and not that many family members could afford the trip across the country to attend. I wish more of my family was there.

  10. @ Ma~ Isn't it amazing how things that make total sense before the wedding suddenly seem so off after? Goes to show that weddings are very stressful!

@ Retired English Teacher~ Big huge wedding are a big deal here....my wedding with only 90 guests was considered small in comparision.

@ Ramona~ When you do get married that theme sounds abolutely beautiful!

@ Beth~ awwww it sounds like you had a beautiful marriage...I saw your wedding picture and you two made such a great looking couple on that day!

@ Ginny~ Oh I will have to go back and look for your posts. That story about the cake is hilarious! I remember attending a cousin's wedding when I was 7 and I was so thristy I drank what I thought was water at our table
turns out it was a martini that belonged to the person sitting next to me! Your should have seen my parents faces when I complained that the water tasted "funny"!

@ Kristin~ Yeah I always seems to come to that I think either picking atmostphere or great food.

@ HeatherBabe~ Ya live and learn right?! Sounds like you had quite the experience and so you definitely deserve to have the wedding of your dreams the next time around!

@ becca~ Thank you! I'm glad you liked the post.

@ Tracy~I know what you mean-my hubby had more family at the wedding than I did.

  12. I'm like you, Joanne... I barely tried any dresses on. Bought the 3rd one I tried. From a clearance rack. It was beautiful, but it wasn't perfect. I wish I looked a bit longer. Other than that, my wedding was perfect:)
