R is for~~~a Red dress

Have you ever worn a Red dress to a special occasion?

I have never worn a Red dress....ever. I have always wanted to, but

#1 I could never find one that would look good on me
And #2 Where would I wear it.?

I tend to choose black for special occasions...always black. What is it about Red that I find so appealing? I don't know, but maybe it's the fact that in a sea of black dresses a Red dress would definitely stand out.

I mean who wouldn't want an Audrey Hepburn moment?

Then again Red can be very naughty...like in the movie Jezebel. Bette Davis' character wore a Red dress to a ball in which all the unmarried girls wore white. Against her Bo's wishes she stubbornly wore the dress and lost her love.

                                                                      Red can also say
                                                              VA Va Voom!

  3. Ah, the red dress! I have never had one. Well, when I was younger and could actually wear one, my church was too conservative, we are Mennonites.I wasn't even allowed a veil or wedding rings. Alas, now that we are not so conservative anymore, I just find myself too old and fat! Shucks, missed it at every stage of my life! Now if you're next question is about spandex jeans, I'm there!

  4. I love wearing red. I used to have a wonderful red dress that I wore so often that I think I wore it out. Now I wear lots of red sweaters and tops of about every shade of red you can imagine. But I also wear a lot of black. Hope you find that perfect red dress some day! I loved your pictures and how they combined with the written content.

  5. LOVE red! Back in high school all I could think about was that I wanted to wear a red dress to my prom. I had it pictured down to the last detail. Amazingly, I found it - and I still believe it's the most beautiful dress I've ever owned. Fast forward 10 years later and that dress is not even close to zipping up - but I plan to keep it forever!

  12. Red is my favorite color, and yes, I have worn a wonderful red dress before. Perhaps I should write a blog entry about it.

I was single (divorced), in my 40's and dating a bachelor. We went to a party for his high profile company. He loved that I wore the dress and the impact it made. A few weeks later, the song "Lady in Red" came out. He called me and told me that he had just heard the song that summed up his feelings about me in the red dress. Romantic stuff!

I still have the dress. It no longer fits, and he is still a confirmed bachelor. That is funny stuff!
