Saturday's Question~~ N is for...writing NOTES?

When was the last time you wrote or received a letter? I used to love to write letters. Getting a letter was always fun too. The pen and stationery I used was very important as well. I have a thing about pens. They have to feel comfortable in my hands or else I have difficulty concentrating on writing at all. It doesn't have to be expensive either. I have found great pens in dollar stores (they didn't last long though). Do you still write letters? And if you were to sit down and write a letter right now which one of these would you choose?

A regular Bic or Papermate will do. No fuss, no muss?

Would you choose Cutesy Pens with characters or fluffy tops?

Do you like the element of surprise? would you like seeing people's reactions when you take out one of these novelty pens?

Write a letter with a sandwich or leaf pen?

Would you go "old school" with a fountain pen?

source

Or real "old school" with a quill and ink well?

source

Really, Really "Old School"?

And what would you write on?

Plain ol' loose leaf,  fancy stationery or

                                                               Something fun?

I miss writing letters.  Maybe I will start to write them again.  My daughter made a friend on vacation last year and even though they both text each other they have also chosen to write letters back and forth...very cool I thought.  Now what would I choose from this page? I like the fountain pen, and this time I would be careful not to flick the ink onto the person that is sitting next to me.....Yes, I did this in High school in an art class. All I can say is...the HORROR!!!  I'd want another crack at it.  I hope you all have a Blessed weekend See Ya Monday!  Blessings, Joanne

  1. We are the same!!! The best thing about school starting each year was buying the supplies, just going in the store and smelling the erasers, crayons, and paper. I have always had really cute and really beautiful stationarys!! I have a whole drawer full!! People who only e-mail nowadays really miss something, I think. The joy and thoughtfullness of writing and receiving letters, seeing the person's own handwriting and their choice of paper. I actually think the word ststionary may be unknown by the younbger generations in the near future. I still send notes because I am a deacon. Hallmark and the book stores are about the only places you can see a nice choice now. And when I was in high school, fountain pen all the way!!! Inky thumbs all the time!!! O.K., can you tell I like this question and am a bit obsessed??

  2. I LOVE this "N" post! I love to receive a letter in the mail too, although I am bad at writing them, other then at Christmas time. I still feel like a letter is something in your hands to actually hang on to though. I must admit, I still have all the letters my aunt would write to me from states away when I was little and growing up. I cherish those letters now since she passed away a few years ago. This post reminds me of how important it still is to actually write a "real" letter, put a stamp on it and mail it. Besides, it is no fun to only receive bills in the mail... lol

Thanks for the great post! :) Have a great weekend too.

  3. It has probably been 30 years since I have set down and wrote a letter with pen and paper. Ever since the email was invented I gave up the pen. I would use the papermate pen and lined notebook paper. Just a plain Jane. Have a good weekend.

  4. I used to write a large amount of letters. Sadly with e-mail I rarely write an old fashioned letter. It makes me want to go and write a letter to someone. Thanks for your post!

  5. I think the last time I wrote a letter was when I was a pen pal for a soldier who had served in the Gulf War back in the early 90's. It had been for a school project and quite a few of us got responses which we were then encouraged to share. Ah, sweet times.

These days I wouldn't know who to write to as mostly everyone I know is on social media.

  6. I like a plain bic with plain paper:)

The last letter I wrote was a gospel presentation to my aunt...I guess I'm too chicken to do it in person.

  7. The only time I get a written letter is at Christmas time and it is stuffed inside a Christmas card. My fault too as I don't write letters either. I get all of my pens at the bank or the credit union. LOL

  9. I loved this entry. Nice job! Neat, full of nifty stuff. Ok, there's my contribution of N words for today's comment.

I have a pen that I got in Vienna last April that I love to use in my journal. I don't know what I'l do when it runs out of ink.

  11. This last year when I moved into my apartment my mom had this plan that I needed all my old stuff from their house?! Well I have absolutely no place to put them so I spent an evening going through everything. I found this old shoe box, and in it was EVERY letter I EVER received in high school! I was amazed that my mom kept all of them! My best friend used to have this collection of markers and pens she would carry in backpack and she would write notes all the time! It was so cool to go back and read all of them! I definitely LOVE me some colored Papermate pens and some good old notebook paper. Loved the post!!!

  12. Good selection for the letter "N". The last letter a wrote was to a neighbor whose mail got mixed in with mine and the last one before that was to my credit card rep, but I don't know if that one counts because it's not handwritten...it's typed up and printed.

Of the writing tools that you listed, I would use those Papermate pens pictured above. While I do like fancy pens and pencils, I am not into those fluffy writing utensils or the ones with all those extra ornaments and such like in the other images shown above.

"Fancy" to me is an ink pen that has an elegant design and costs like $30-$50 a piece! Now, THAT is something I'd use to write a letter, lol.

I would love to write more letters but unfortunately, I don't really have a reason to and I also don't really have anyone to write letters to, which sucks, but hey, what can I do?

  13. A writer friend of mine and I have decided to write letters back and forth. What fun!

I would choose the Papermate. They feel good in my hand. And I pick stationary to write on. I can't very well write her letter on lined notebook paper, can I?

Cute post. Thank you for the visit and comment over at my place. I hope you have a lovely Sunday.

  14. Hello Joanne, This is my first visit to your blog. You had me smiling all the way. I also had (umm, have) a thing about pens and stationery. I still have quite a collection, but I have to say an ordinary cheap papermate is my favourtie. Plus they come in colours! Love the purple ink.

I write very few letters these days, but I love to write little notes and leave them laying around for my family to find. Those little shoe notebooks are right up my alley. *Big Smiles*

Wishing you a happy week! God bless.

With love and care from Kerrie. xOx

  15. Pens are like coffee mugs, they have to be just so to work.

  16. Joanne, I just realized I was not following your blog. Fixed that now. :)
I used to love writing real pen to paper letters, but I guess Christmas cards to some non-computer savy relatives is about the only time I write anymore. Thanks for all your sweet comments on my blog.
