Artsy Fartsy Friday~A to Z ~ L is for Lovely Lei Art

Well, I am finally caught up! Today in the A to Z challenge we have to use the letter "L" and since It is Friday...I post Art

Today I have a treat for you....

               I'm taking you to Hawaii

That's right pack your sarong and we will learn the hula together, but first your neck must be adorned by a beautiful lei. And for those who may not know what that is ... a lei is a beautiful tropical floral or sea shell garland made and stringed together from sweet fragrant tropical flowers.

For my Daughter's 6th birthday she wanted a Hawaiian themed party...(no matter that her birthday is in February!) Well, I ordered grass skirts for the girls and straw hats for the boys.

They drank fruity drinks from plastic coconut shaped cups. When guests first arrived they were greeted by Hawaiian music and my daughter and I draped leis around every one's neck; we also had all the girls and ladies wear flowers in their hair.

So today You are my guest and we are on our way

Please enjoy the video.  Lei Art
" Once a year on May Day (the first of May) on Oahu, the island's finest and most dedicated lei makers spend weeks gathering materials to craft what are undoubtedly among the world's most beautiful floral creations." You tube video description

  9. Cool theme for a party. Every single time I think of Hawaii I think of Don Ho singing. Too, every time I hear the Hawaiian language, I think of Don Ho. Geez, now I have to Google him to see if he is still alive! lol
