Wednesday's Fashion~~~NAILS

Welcome to Wednesdays fashions!!!

Today I want to write about fingernails. I took a good look at my nails today and thought ugh how ugly! I often look at the young cashier's nails at my supermarket and wonder how they keep there nails so nicely polished.

Seems that they would have to get their nails done once every week in order to keep them so fresh and shiny.

Now lets see...the last time I had a professional manicure was....no it can't be....16 years ago?????? Yep it was my wedding....well technically that was NOT the last time.

My neighbor, who wanted to be a manicurist took classes and invited me to get a free manicure at her school. She glued three of my fingers together and the nail polish was lumpy on one hand and streaked on the other.  The mani lasted just one day and a half before I peeled off the acrylics. It took me days to get the glue off my fingers! I never asked if she got a job in the industry.

Now going back to my wedding... I had the typical french manicure and on our honeymoon every new bride had the same style too. Lately however I have been seeing alot of new trends.

  1. When I was single and working at a large company many of the ladies had their nails done. I was raised on a farm and with the idea if it was not functional and practical we simply did not do it. I went to a Mary Kay demonstration and learned to do my own nails but soon became allergic to most of the product used for nail care. I have MCS/EI (multiple chemical sensitivity with environmental illness), which is something like the boy in the bubble, everything makes me ill. Therefore, nail care just does not appeal to me personally, because I get too sick from the products. However, I do find it interesting to see all that has become of it in the way of fashion. As with any lady, fashion interest me, especially the spiritual implications of it. When I studied how spiritual mindset affects fashion, the history of fashion is interesting along those lines. Political and economics also affects fashion more than I ever believed. For now the way my nail look is short because it is most practical considering being a homemaker they are often put to the test with everyday chores and they break more readily then they used to. I had fun with this post, thank you.

  4. I like the airbrushed one with the blue background, it looks like there is a castle on one of the nails! Some of the others, like the pierced one with a charm, how can you ever do housework or anything with that hanging from your fingers? Seems that it would always be getting in the way. I have never seen the like of some of these!!! I have glitter polish and like that.

  5. I have tried, really tried to have nice nails. The only time I succeeded was after I had surgery on my right elbow, and couldn't use my arm for much. But other than that, I just can't do it.
I like the flashy wedding nails the best.

I must say the hello kitty one is interesting I don't know how you'd get anything done. I have a friend that does the funny colored tips but it always looks so funny to me.
