George Washington gave all his soldiers double rations of rum to celebrate July 4th because the nation was still fighting in the Revolutionary War for the first two Independence Days.
Thomas Jefferson died on July 4, 1826.
John Adams died on the same day as Thomas Jeffereson on July 4, 1826.
James Monroe died on July 4, 1831.
Origin of Uncle Sam~ Samuel Wilson was a meat packer who provided food for U.S. soldiers in the early 1800′s. He stamped the initials U.S. on his packaged products and some soldiers began to joke that it stood for Uncle Sam, giving way to the symbolic Uncle Sam of the United States government.
The design of the American flag is symbolic. The thirteen red and white stripes represent the thirteen original colonies.

Blue stands for vigilance, perseverance, and justice.
The original thirteen stars were made in a circle to show that each colony, no matter what it’s size, was equal to the others.
